Dental implants are the most durable and natural-looking solution available for our patients who are missing one or more teeth. Unlike removable dentures and dental bridges, which can require daily maintenance and can impede a patient’s regular oral functions, dental implants are permanent and allow for natural cleaning, chewing, and speech. If you would like to learn more about permanent tooth replacement and whether you are a good candidate for dental implants, contact County Dental to schedule a consultation at our offices in Orange County, Westchester County, Rockland County, or the location nearest you.
The process of placing dental implants is generally completed in three visits to our office. During the first visit, the patient’s mouth and jaw will be examined visually and via CT scan to determine whether the patient is a good candidate for dental implants. During the second visit, the patient will be made comfortable with local anesthesia and his or her gums and jaw will be prepared to receive the implants. The dentist will then insert the titanium tooth roots into the patient’s jaw and close the incisions with stitches.
After the implantation, the patient will return home to allow the healing process to begin and the implants to become fused to the jawbone. This process generally takes from three to six months. On the third visit for placing dental implants, the patient will be fitted with custom-crafted, natural-looking porcelain replacement teeth. At the completion of this final visit, the patient will have beautiful and durable replacement teeth. Dental implants require no more care than normal teeth do and with proper care patients can enjoy strong and stunning smiles for a lifetime.
