Dental implants are the most durable and natural-looking solution available for our patients who are missing one or more teeth. Unlike removable dentures and dental bridges, which can require daily maintenance and can impede a patient’s regular oral functions, dental implants are permanent and allow for natural cleaning, chewing, and speech. If you would like to learn more about permanent tooth replacement and whether you are a good candidate for dental implants, contact County Dental to schedule a consultation at our offices in Orange County, Westchester County, Rockland County, or the location nearest you.
Dental implants are artificial tooth roots that are fused to a patient’s jaw and to which porcelain replacement teeth are attached. Unlike other tooth replacement options, such as dentures and dental bridges, dental implants are permanently attached to the jaw, providing unsurpassed stability and support for permanent replacement teeth. This characteristic means that patients who have dental implants are no longer troubled by ill-fitting dentures, messy adhesives, or costly replacement bridgework; and are not affected by periodontal disease. Dental implants placed by County Dental specialists in Orange County, Westchester County, Rockland County, or other areas of New York look, feel, and function just like natural teeth.
The process of placing dental implants is generally completed in three visits to our office. During the first visit, the patient’s mouth and jaw will be examined visually and via CT scan to determine whether the patient is a good candidate for dental implants. During the second visit, the patient will be made comfortable with local anesthesia and his or her gums and jaw will be prepared to receive the implants. The dentist will then insert the titanium tooth roots into the patient’s jaw and close the incisions with stitches.
After the implantation, the patient will return home to allow the healing process to begin and the implants to become fused to the jawbone. This process generally takes from three to six months. On the third visit for placing dental implants, the patient will be fitted with custom-crafted, natural-looking porcelain replacement teeth. At the completion of this final visit, the patient will have beautiful and durable replacement teeth. Dental implants require no more care than normal teeth do and with proper care patients can enjoy strong and stunning smiles for a lifetime. To find out if you are a candidate for dental implants, consult a specialist at the County Dental office nearest you, serving Orange County, Rockland County, Westchester County, and locations throughout New York.

Periodontal disease, which is more commonly known as gum disease, is a bacterial infection in the gums and supporting structures of the teeth. There are several stages of gum disease. The first stage, called gingivitis, is distinguished by red, puffy gum tissue that bleeds easily when you brush your teeth. If left untreated the infection can develop into periodontitis and can destroy the bone that supports the teeth, leading to tooth loss.
The American Dental Association has stated that the overwhelming majority of adults will have some form of gum disease within their lifetimes. If you have any symptoms of gum disease, we urge you to make an appointment at one of our County Dental offices immediately. We have several ways to effectively treat this disease and protect your dental health.
