Orthodontics: Invisalign® and More in Rockland, Westchester, and Orange County, New York

The waiting room for our orthodontic patients is truly one of a kind. It has a mural of Times Square with a built-in flat-screen television mounted on the back of a taxi cab for our patients to watch while they wait to see the doctor. Orthodontic Treatment Options
Our orthodontists offer a range of orthodontic treatment options, including the Invisalign® system, at each of our County Dental locations.
Invisalign®
We are proud to offer the revolutionary Invisalign® system at each of our locations, including our Rockland, Westchester, and Orange County, New York offices. The Invisalign® system utilizes a series of clear plastic aligners that fit over the teeth and move them step by step to predetermined locations. Invisalign® has become one of the most popular methods of orthodontic treatment because it is comfortable, convenient, and nearly unnoticeable.
To begin the Invisalign® process, you will visit one of our County Dental offices for an examination with one of our orthodontists, who will determine whether you are a good candidate for Invisalign®. In general, you must be at least 16 years old to qualify. During your appointment, we will make impressions or your teeth that will be sent to Invisalign® so that your personalized series of aligners can be crafted. You will wear each aligner in your series for two weeks and then replace it with the next aligner. The Invisalign® aligners are worn at all times but may be removed to allow you to eat, drink, and care for your teeth. Over time, your teeth will gradually be moved into their new positions.

Traditional Braces
We offer both traditional metal and ceramic braces at County Dental. Metal braces are made from high grade-stainless steel and are the most common type used at our practice. Ceramic braces are translucent and are most popular with our adult patients because they are less noticeable than metal braces.
Removable Appliances
Removable appliances are typically used as the first phase of treatment for adolescents. These appliances can correct tooth alignment, a narrow or short arch, or a deep or crow bite.
Retainers
After the completion of treatment with Invisalign® or traditional braces, the retention phase of treatment begins. During the retention phase, which lasts a minimum of 24 months, we make sure that the teeth stay in their new positions by having the patient wear a retainer. The retainer can be either fixed, in which case the appliance is bonded to the back side of the teeth, or removable.
Early Orthodontic Treatment
Detecting and treating possible problems early makes it easier to prevent the need for orthodontic treatment with braces or Invisalign® later in life. Our orthodontists can guide growth and development of the jaw and mouth of a child to make room for permanent teeth and eliminate crowding.
Early intervention and orthodontic treatment can often achieve results such as:
- Creating facial symmetry by guiding jaw development.
- Creating room for erupting teeth and preserving room for unerupted teeth.
- Reducing the need for tooth removal and treatment with braces.

Dr. Maria Witkowich
Dr. Maria Witkowich received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at New York University in 1994. She has been with County Dental for three years, practicing not only general dentistry, but also orthodontics. Dr. Witkowich completed her certification in orthodontics in 2003 and has been passionate about creating beautiful smiles through orthodontic treatment ever since. She is a member of the American Dental Association and the International Association of Orthodontics. Dr. Witkowich stays current with the latest developments in orthodontic technology, including the Invisalign® system, by attending conferences and seminars throughout the year.
