The patient care coordinator assures that each patient is fully cared for. He or she assists in communicating the needs of the patient to other dental professionals and provides additional support by scheduling services in a timely and efficient manner. Office duties include scheduling and confirming appointments, checking patients in and out, organizing treatment records, sending bills and receiving payments, and maintaining the inventory of supplies and materials. The patient care coordinator works closely with professionals in our dental assistant and dental hygienist positions to ensure that each patient receives the dental care that he or she needs.
At County Dental, office managers are responsible for making sure that our day-to-day business operations run smoothly. They work to meet our company’s staffing, training, managing, and organizational needs, and make it possible for other people to function efficiently. Office managers who succeed have confidence, common sense, loyalty, and the ability to motivate others. We seek out individuals who are able to work with others and coordinate smooth operations. The greatest satisfaction that office managers can achieve is seeing the results from their decisions made and implemented in ordinance with our corporate philosophy. Office management provides a very structured environment with clearly defined responsibilities that ensure the overall function of the office.
Our dental assistants help make each patient as comfortable as possible while he or she is in the dental chair, prepare them for treatment, and review dental records with the doctor. They also sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment, prepare tray setups for procedures, and instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care. Other duties of those in dental assistant positions at our New York practices include preparing materials for making impressions and restorations, exposing radiographs, and processing dental x-ray film as directed by the dentist.
Dental hygienists are oral health professionals who focus on preventing and treating oral diseases in order to protect a patient’s teeth, gums, and overall health. As part of dental hygiene services, those in the dental hygienist positions at our New York County Dental offices perform oral health care assessments that include reviewing patients’ health history, dental charting, oral cancer screening, and removing plaque and calculus from above and below the gumline. They also apply fluorides and sealants to the teeth to help prevent cavities.
Dental hygienists also teach patients proper oral hygiene techniques to maintain healthy teeth and gums, and instruct patients about controlling plaque and developing individualized at-home oral hygiene programs.
